Moritsugu oversees the AP’s video, text and photo newsgathering for Japan and the Koreas. He has been a leader in AP’s efforts in Asia to reshape coverage for the digital age. Moritsugu started his journalism career at The Japan Times in Tokyo. He later was a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times, Newsday and the Knight-Ridder Washington bureau. He joined The Associated Press in 2007 as Asia enterprise editor in Bangkok, and was appointed Tokyo bureau chief in 2013. He has held several leadership posts with the Asian American Journalists Association, including New York chapter president, Asia chapter president and national vice president for print.
